Cubera Snapper - Rare Fish in Fort Lauderdale Can't Post

May 10th, 2008

The Lady Pamela II set sail bright and early around 7 AM and went straight to trolling. Within 30 minutes the rod bent over. Rice from Mississippi grabbed the rod and started fighting the fish. Things were looking good, we were 4 for 4 on the kingfish bite. Later on in the trip we hooked some kind of sea monster. It was giant, but didn't hold on for long. It fell off shortly after we got the bite.

Our afternoon trip today called for both boats, the Frequent Flyer II and the Lady Pamela II. We headed out the inlet for a little competition between the two boats. We both set up in the deep hoping for a bite. The Frequent Flyer II hooked something pretty big, but after one hour they pulled the hook. They were set up in the right area so they decided to stick around. Good thing, too. They got hooked immediately and caught a five foot sandbar shark. The day only got better. They landed a 30 lb cubera snapper, which is very rare to see in Fort Lauderdale and pointed out two lagerhead turtles to their charter.

Tight Lines!
